Located next to the hotel's outdoor Jacuzzi, the 86 seat Los Tucanes restaurant is Tabacon's option for fine dining in the rainforest. Our open-air facilities are surrounded by manicured gardens and primary forest, and offer a vantage point for volcano viewing. The restaurant offers a wide selection of international wines and liqueurs. The setting is not formal, but guests tend to dress up for dinner, typically sporting a business-casual look. Nights, particularly between November and March can be in the cool side, so a light sweater or long sleeves are recommended.
Buffet or A-la-Carte Breakfast: guests choosing to include our breakfast option with the room reservation or vacation package at Tabacon can enjoy the daily breakfast buffet at Restaurant Los Tucanes, surrounded by lush rainforest. Probable daily visitors and frequent guests include toucans, colorful tropical birds, the occasional white faced monkey and a local family of coatimundis. Breakfast buffet features multiple stations that include a full omelet bar, fresh cut tropical fruit and fruit drinks, cereal, breads and pastries, a wide assortment of cold cuts, smoked salmon and cheeses, a pancake and waffle station and the daily hot-dish section that features the always present gallo pinto, along with local and international favorites such as plantains, chilaquiles, tamales, shredded chicken or beef and breakfast meats like sausages or ham. A wide range of hot beverages includes an assortment of teas, freshly pressed or brewed coffees and chocolate. Freshly squeezed orange juice is served at the table, either as a refreshing and nourishing drink or mixed with sparkling white wine in a mimosa. A fresh juice bar is also featured, and will prepare any tropical fruit based cocktail blended with water, milk, yogurt or orange juice. Breakfast is served daily from 6:30 to 10:30 am.
A-la-Carte Dinner at Los Tucanes is served daily from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Live local musicians help create a relaxed mood conducive to a romantic candle-lit dinner, or a cozy family event. Daily specials are created by Tabacon's resident chefs and presented by our friendly waiters. Menu selections vary from local favorites that feature fresh Costa Rican Pacific fish like tuna or seabass, grass fed Costa Rican beef, imported lamb, and local chicken or seafood delicacies. The three course price fix menu allows guests to sample some of Costa Rica's top dishes, while the Spa cuisine is designed for health conscious guests that prefer a lighter menu. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during the high season (December 15 - April 15, July 1 - August 15) or weekends. In room dining is catered from the Los Tucanes kitchen.
